GAMEDAY Morning Links

by:Hayley Minogue12/27/14
cardinal Well friends, the day is finally here!!!  This afternoon at 2 PM, the Kentucky Wildcats will be tipping off against the little brother in the YUM! Center.  The most anticipated game of the year is upon us all, and the excitement is only building.  One of my favorite things about the UK v. UL game is not only what the fans or sports personalities of both schools are saying, but what everyone else is anticipating as well.  I took some time to go through some of my favorite stories that have been written so far by all of the above and have linked them below for you to read while you drink your morning coffee... or morning Fireball.  No judgement here, whatever your choice may be.

"We Need Somebody to Punch Us in the Face"

This article from ESPN has some great quotes from Willie Cauley-Stein, Andrew Harrison, and Coach Cal alike, about the rivalry and how much both teams hate each other.  Maybe even a little jab from Cal, which I used as the article link title??  If so, what a guy.

If Louisville Can't Stop Kentucky, Who Can?

Another ESPN link, this one brought to you by my favorite, Eammon Brennan.  He does a great job of not only analyzing the numbers, but also comparing players, past games, and also says what the rest of us have been thinking... A victory tomorrow could mean an undefeated season for the Cayutz.

What the Media is Predicting

John Clay put together a nice article on his blog of about 80 well known media members, both in and out of state, and their predictions for the battle this afternoon.  **SPOILER ALERT** Most are picking Kentucky.

Ten First Impressions

Rick Bozich with WDRB put together a great statistical list of Ten First Impressions for the game, ranging from the number of Top 25 wins each team has (UK-3, UL-1) to the possible Achilles' heel of each team.

The College Basketball Game of the Season

See guys, it's not just us Kentucky crazies saying it!  Even the Boston Globe knows what's up.  Also, the other games worth watching this weekend.

PLACES TO AVOID!!!

Or not avoid, if that's your cup of tea.  Here's a list from the Card Chronicle of places in different cities that the Cardinal Fans will be headed to when tip off comes... and leaving after the first half, so that they can go home and lose in peace.

Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is (QUICKLY!!!)

Here's a link to the Vegas Insider spread for the game, broken down by at what time the odds are changing.  Better lock the Cats in while the spread is still in single digits!   Hope everyone is currently in the midst of their pregame rituals, whether it be Conway Twitty or lunges.  Need a place to watch the game that's Kentucky friendly?  Come visit me at Harry's!  GO CATS!!!!!
