Could this END the NCAA? | Tennessee & Virginia File Lawsuit Against The NCAA Over NIL | What NOW?

Gerald Mincey is a true SEC veteran. The class of 2020 signee out of Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons spent his first two collegiate seasons at Florida and his last two collegiate seasons at Tennessee. Mincey is now in year five and will suit up for Kentucky in 2024. The offensive tackle knows how things work in this conference.

The transfer addition also isn’t afraid to ruffle some feathers. Shortly after committing to Kentucky, the redshirt senior went back and forth with some Vol fans on X.

On Wednesday, Gerald Mincey met with the media at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility. The latest addition to Kentucky’s offensive line room is ready to “handle business on Nov. 2”. Mincey is ready to take a swing at his former team.

“Kentucky gotta do more to earn it,” Mincey said when asked about the Kentucky-Tennessee rivalry. “I’m glad. I like the underdog. I love the underdog. So when we go there Nov. 2 in Neyland and we bust them in the mouth then we can put the standard back over here.”

Shots fired. Gerald Mincey things have “been crazy” on social media between him and Tennessee fans since he committed to Kentucky, but he is using all of that for motivation. The transfer was ready for a change and stated that he appreciated the opportunity that Tennessee provided him.

Most notably, Gerald Mincey is excited to play in a pro-style offense after spending two years in Josh Heupel‘s super spread no-huddle attack in Knosville.

“I like this offense. It’s getting me ready for the NFL. Using NFL terminology, more of a pro-style offense, and I can really show my versatility,” Mincey said. “Outside zone, inside zone instead of what we did at Tennessee which was insert and hurry-up offense.”

The offensive tackle was a former Kentucky commit in high school and credited a previous relationship established with Eddie Gran as a reason he decided to move to Lexington. Gerald Mincey even admitted to being a troll when he decided to interact with the Big Orange faithful. But most of all, he’s ready for the 120th meeting of the Kentucky-Tennessee series.

“I can’t wait for Nov. 2,” the transfer said.
