In case you missed the news this morning, The Field of 68 is joining the On3 | Rivals family. The popular college basketball media network will expand its coverage with written content for On3 | Rivals and a new message board community tailored specifically to college hoops fans. The best way to celebrate? A KSR/Kentucky Basketball takeover.

As luck would have it, Field of 68 will be in Lexington on Tuesday to check in on Mark Pope’s new team as part of its road trip series. Field of 68’s founders, Jeff Goodman and Rob Dauster, will attend Kentucky’s practice tomorrow afternoon and go live throughout on their YouTube Channel. Based on previous stops (Purdue, Indiana, Louisville), that will include interviews with players and coaches.

That’s not enough basketball content for us, so we’re going to talk to them before and after. Goodman and Dauster will be on the KSR morning show starting at 10 a.m. ET to talk about joining On3 | Rivals and give their early impressions of Pope’s Cats. At noon, they’ll watch Kentucky practice at the Joe Craft Center, and before leaving town, will sit down with Jack Pilgrim and Shawn Smith to share their takeaways on Sources Say. Steven Peake will be with the guys at the bar to film it all for you, a perfect Kentucky Basketball fix during the football team’s bye week.

Kentucky No. 7 in Field of 68 Top 25

One of the first orders of business: getting them to fix their preseason rankings. The first Field of 68 Top 25 dropped on On3.com yesterday, and Kentucky is No. 7. Nothing wrong with that. It’s a great spot for the Cats…until you see Louisville at No. 6. Dauster and Goodman have some ‘splaining to do tomorrow. At least they put Rick Pitino’s St. John’s at No. 8.

Goodman and Dauster project Kentucky’s starting lineup to be Otega Oweh, Jaland Lowe, Denzel Aberdeen, Mouhamed Dioubate, and Brandon Garrison. They think the Cats could win the SEC in Pope’s second season.

“Mark Pope came back home to Lexington and immediately got the fan base invigorated again, then did what John Calipari hadn’t been able to do for a while – advance to the second weekend of the NCAA tourney. Oweh (16.2 ppg) is back, and he’s got a new cast around him – but one that has as much depth as anyone in the country – especially on the perimeter. Collin Chandler and Trent Noah both return after filling roles a year ago, but now they will have competition from the likes of Aberdeen, who came off the bench for the national champion Florida Gators, Jaland Lowe (16.8 ppg at Pittsburgh), Kam Williams (41% from 3 at Tulane) and highly touted big freshman wing Jasper Johnson. The frontcourt isn’t quite as deep, but Brandon Garrison is back and the ‘Cats added Arizona State transfer Jayden Quaintance (9.4 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 2.6 bpg) and Alabama transfer Mouhamed Dioubate (7.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg) – two proven frontcourt guys who add toughness and physicality. This team has the biggest payroll in the country, and should have a chance to win the SEC in Pope’s second season back.”

I’ll be curious to hear if Goodman and Dauster still think Louisville is better than Kentucky after seeing both teams in person this week. Believe it or not, we’re only 57 days away from the two teams facing off at the Yum Center.
