On Thursday afternoon, I didn’t know anything about the Annabelle doll, and I had nothing but great things to say about Adam Sandler. Now, because of what happened in Kentucky’s Blue-White Game, I need them both to exit the Bluegrass immediately.

If you haven’t heard the bad news yet, Jaland Lowe injured his right shoulder in the second half of Kentucky’s Blue-White Game. Afterward, Mark Pope said that Lowe tweaked the shoulder and sat out the remainder of the event as a precaution, and the staff should know more tomorrow. However, once I learned that a cursed doll is on display in the exhibit halls outside Rupp Arena this weekend and Adam Sandler referenced an injury during his show at Rupp last night, for which the entire team was in attendance, I’m officially spooked, and I’m not even the superstitious type.

For the Annabelle novices in the house, just like me a few hours ago, she’s a haunted Raggedy Ann doll whose story is told in the new film “The Conjuring: Last Rites.” Annabelle is on display this weekend at the Central Bank Center for ScareFest as part of the Devils on the Run Tour. The doll has been around since the 1970s, sparking paranormal activity wherever she goes. Since the start of the Devils on the Run tour, Annabelle’s handler, Dan Rivera, died, and, when Annabelle went to New Orleans for a tour stop in mid-May, 10 inmates escaped from an area prison and a famous plantation caught on fire. Whoever looks Annabelle in the eye supposedly has very bad things coming their way, which is why the doll needs to vacate the halls outside Rupp Arena immediately before more wickedness this way comes.

The doll is so feared that she has to be covered up in transit with an accompanying priest to protect those around her:

That brings us to Adam Sandler, the lovable comedian and actor who stopped by Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball practice on Thursday afternoon ahead of his show at Rupp Arena. Sandler loves to play pick-up at his tour stops, and during his show, he told fans that he witnessed someone pop their Achilles tendon during a game at UK. Thankfully, we know that wasn’t a player on the men’s or women’s squad, but Sandler gave us all a scare, and combined with Annabelle’s bad energy just outside the doors of the arena, a curse may have been put on this squad, which was in attendance. Considering Kentucky battled injuries last season, including a shoulder injury to Lamont Butler, the starting point guard, the curse may have been there all along.

Sandler left Lexington earlier today for a show in St. Louis, but Annabelle is here until Sunday. Kentucky plays Texas in football tomorrow, and the program doesn’t need any more bad juju. Can someone please escort this doll out of the Bluegrass before kickoff Saturday night? Just make sure it’s covered up before you do.
