After three grueling days down in St. Simon’s Island, Georgia, the UK men’s golf team finished 8th of 14, finishing 38 shots behind champions Alabama. Sounds bad, but the top-ranked Crimson Tide cleared the field by 16 shots with four players who finished under par. Yeah, Alabama is really, really good.

But back to the Cats. Junior David Snyder paced UK for the weekend, finishing 5th overall at 5-under for the weekend. Behind Snyder was senior Ben Stow at 1-over (26th), senior Cody Martin at 5-over (36th) and senior Stephen Powers at 9-over (56th). The Cats came into the event ranked 33rd in the country, which slotting them for a projected 9th place finish.

Yeah, the SEC is kinda good at this golf thing, too. As I said before, Alabama finished first at 34-under for the tournament, besting LSU (18-under), Auburn (11-under), Georgia (7-under) and South Carolina (2-under).

The Cats now await their NCAA tournament fate, where they figure to be somewhere between a 5 and 7 seed at whatever regional they are slotted in.
