Jack PIlgrimby:Jack Pilgrim•11/06/23

A bit slow out of the gate, Kentucky finally came alive in the final minutes to take a 37-29 lead over New Mexico State at the half in the Wildcats’ season opener.

The frontcourt issues are apparent early, the Aggies outrebounding the home team 22-20 while pulling down five on the offensive glass. Still, though, Kentucky’s talent is clear with eight Wildcats earning buckets and three with multiple at the break.

Antonio Reeves and Reed Sheppard lead all scorers with eight points apiece, the former going 3-6 overall and the latter 2-3 with three makes at the line. Justin Edwards and Adou Thiero added five points each while Rob Dillingham has four.

As a team, the Wildcats are shooting 38.7% from the field (12-31), 30.8% from three (4-13) and 75% at the line (9-12). NM State has knocked down 32.3% of its shots and 30.8 of its threes while going a perfect 5-5 at the line.
