Kentucky only has 28 points at halftime against a terrible Nicholls team with absolutely mind-boggling shooting splits of 30/13/46 — oh, and another player got hurt. The only thing that would make this worse is the Colonels actually leading at the break, but fortunately, they stink.

Or is the defense good again after being very bad against Georgetown? I don’t know anymore. Either way, the Wildcats are holding their opponent to an abysmal 12.0 percent overall and 7.1 percent from deep, setting up a 13-point lead after 20 minutes.

Jasper Johnson (2-4 FG) and Denzel Aberdeen (2-4 FG) have scored five apiece, followed by Otega Oweh (1-5 FG), Collin Chandler (1-4 FG) and Brandon Garrison (2-3 FG) with four, Mo Dioubate (1-3 FG) with three, Andrija Jelavic (1-4 FG) with two and Malachi Moreno (1-4 FT) with one.

The big news is that Trent Noah went down with a leg injury, TV cameras showing a bad ankle roll that forced him to be helped off the floor and back to the locker room by trainers. It comes immediately following Aberdeen’s return from a leg injury while waiting for Jaland Lowe (shoulder) and Jayden Quaintance (knee) to make their official debuts for the Wildcats.

What could have gone wrong for the blue and white has gone wrong in the first half. The product is not very enjoyable at this point — certainly looking closer to the team that got crushed by unranked Georgetown, not the one that crushed No. 1 Purdue.

Can they turn things around? Will Noah be able to return in the second half? As long as it all ends in a win, that’s what matters, but we’ve certainly got some questions for this group 20 minutes into game one.
