Big Blue Nation, let's all join in together to wish Kentucky's Athletic Director, Mitch Barnhart, a Happy 60th Birthday! https://twitter.com/UKAthletics/status/1166336844633538561 https://twitter.com/UKsoftball/status/1166330151480651780 https://twitter.com/UKSwimDive/status/1166386418832175104 Putting aside his thoughts on alcohol sales at Kroger Field (sorry, Mitch, we had to toss that jab in), Barnhart has established himself as one of the elite Athletic Directors in the entire country. In 2019 alone, Barnhart has been named the Athletic Director of the Year along with earning a position on the NCAA Men’s Basketball Committee for the 2020-21 season. Not to mention the lifetime contract he extended to John Calipari, who gladly accepted the offer. In his 17 years leading the athletics department, Barnhart has consistently pumped out winning teams, ranging from high-profile sports such as basketball and - more recently - football, to others such as the rifle team (who won a national championship in 2018) and women's volleyball. The success he's brought to Lexington since the turn of the century has been extraordinary, and with an ever-increasing budget, the sky continues to be the limit for Wildcat athletics. Happy Birthday, Mr. Barnhart. Let's rake in a couple more national championships over the next few seasons, shall we?
