Amelia Hassett scores 1,000th career point in season-high 19-point outing against Queens

It was a fun night inside of Historic Memorial Coliseum on Monday. Not only did Kentucky win by 42 points as they dominated Queens, but Amelia Hassett had yet another big game for the Cats.
She was really the only player who played at least decent against North Carolina, posting 13 points and 13 rebounds in the 19-point loss. Her steady improvement through the first nine game of the season is apparent, and it was certainly apparent against the Royals.
The 6-foot-3 forward had a season-high 19-points on 7-14 (3-9 3PT) shooting, and along the way, she scored her 1,000th career point as well.
“Obviously, it was a great feeling hitting that milestone,” Hassett said postgame regarding her achievement. “Props to my teammates for helping me get there. This team, we can be great. We just have to put the work in. I feel like [coming to Kentucky] was a great fit, great choice. I just absolutely love the coaching staff and Coach [Kenny] Brooks.”

“I love Amelia,” Brooks said a bit later on. “I asked her after the game, I said, ‘How do you assess your performance today’, and she did the politically correct thing, she said she could have played better, and I agreed with her, but I also made sure I told her that whatever she does, I trust her. In nine games, she’s developed trust with me that she’s not always going to be perfect, but she’s gonna have perfect intent.”
