Injuries have a way of finding Landon Young at worst possible times. Ahead of his first season as a full-time starter for Kentucky, he suffered a season-ending knee injury in the summer, sidelining him for the entirety of the 2018 campaign.

It was a similar refrain once he was drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. In his first start as a rookie, he suffered another season-ending knee injury. He fully recovered for the 2022 season, picked up a start, then the injury bug bit, again.

“I ended up finishing the game, but the sad news came after when they said, ‘Yeah, you’re going to need a surgery soon,” Young told KSR this week.

“It was tough at first, but I’m a man of faith. I put it all in God’s hands. I knew that he had blessed me to that point and he wasn’t going to abandon me right there.”

Landon Young is feeling good this spring. It’s his first completely healthy offseason and he’s spending it in Lexington with his family and working out with some other former Wildcats at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility. The Lexington native enjoyed every minute of his time playing for Mark Stoops’ Kentucky football program. At times it’s hard for him to believe that he’s doing what so many people only dream of doing, playing in the NFL.

“It blows my mind that I’m talking about going into year three in the NFL. I feel like yesterday we were getting ready to play in a bowl game, going somewhere and getting all the gift suites,” said Young. “Now it’s a job and I’m getting to live every man’s dream, doing what he loves for a living.”

During our one-on-one conversation Landon Young also talked about his favorite cajun food, what’s next for the New Orleans Saints as they rise out of a rebuild and much more. Take a look.
