Just one week ago, Louisville native Justin Thomas was scoring birdies at Augusta National in route to finishing just five shots back of eventual Masters Champion and comeback legend Tiger Woods.

Since returning home, Thomas has been hard at work launching the next phase of his career: establishing a charity for children in need in his hometown.

The mission of the Justin Thomas Foundation is to positively impact children in need, junior golf and military families with the intent of helping all achieve their full potential. The goals of the Justin Thomas Foundation reflect the altruistic aspirations of the Thomas family. By funding programming and fulfilling requests of those in need, they are committed to making a difference in the world.

“My family and I are excited to formally launch my foundation,” Justin Thomas said. “A lot of people in this community supported me and my family while I was growing up. Without their encouragement and a locally-funded grant or two, I’m not sure I’d be where I am today. I am pleased to be able to offer kindness to others, the way it was shown to me.”

All signs seem to point to Thomas being a genuinely awesome guy, so now that Tiger has claimed his redemption and brought plenty of eyes back to the game of golf, maybe Justin will pick up a few fans in the process.

If you just can’t wait for another taste of major championship golf, you’re in luck. The PGA Championship has been moved up from August to May 16 this year. Maybe JT can celebrate his charity’s inception by claiming his second Wanamaker Trophy in just 4 weeks.
