Incoming Kentucky Football freshman DL Quentel Jones arrested

One of Kentucky’s class of 2022 signees is facing a serious charge following his arrest.
Quentel Jones, who committed to the Wildcats in Dec. 2021, has been arrested on a battery charge that is being linked to the killing of a Georgia man. The news was first reported by WMGT-DT and WGXA out of Georgia. Jones was booked into the Peach County Law Enforcement Center on Thursday.
The 19-year-old Jones is being charged with battery in connection to the death of 37-year-old Brandon Godwin, who was killed last month due to a fatal shooting on May 14. Jones’ older brother, 26-year-old Taylor Jones, was arrested on May 31 and charged with the murder of Godwin.

UK Athletics has commented on the matter, stating “we are aware and are monitoring the situation. We have no additional comment at this time.”
Jones committed to Kentucky on Dec. 9 and signed his national letter of intent on Dec. 15. A three-star defensive line prospect out of Fort Valley, GA, the 6-foot-2, 320-pounder was considered the No. 644 overall recruit from the ’22 class, per the On3 Consensus. He chose UK over the likes of Miami (FL) and Auburn. Jones was expected to arrive in the spring as an early enrollee, but that did not happen.
