Injury Report: Stoops hopeful for Jager Burton and Trevin Wallace after the bye

Kentucky Football did not have its full complement of players in Saturday night’s loss to Missouri. On offense, Jager Burton was notably absent from his spot along the offensive line–a well-kept secret until hours before kickoff. In his place, Kentucky returned Kenneth Horsey from injury to fill in. Horsey hadn’t played since the first half of the first game of the season.
On defense, safety Jalen Geiger was out with the injury suffered at Georgia, while star linebacker Trevin Wallace missed his first game of the season. Keeshawn Silver was also sidelined Saturday night, although he was dressed out in pads and uniform with his teammates.
After the game, Mark Stoops addressed Kentucky’s injury report in his postgame comments. First, he confirmed Burton’s absence was injury-related. When asked if the injury is long-term, Stoops said, “I hope not. I hope not. He wanted to try to play desperately, but he could not go.”

Regarding Wallace’s injury and absence, Stoops said Kentucky definitely missed its former SEC Player of the Week at linebacker, and the team hopes to have Wallace back on the other side of the bye week. They were going to try to play, but they just weren’t able to get out on the field, according to Stoops.
Wallace is the team’s leader in sacks and ranks third in total tackles.
Geiger, who scored a Week 1 defensive touchdown upon returning from a season-ending injury a year ago, is expected to miss multiple games with an arm injury.
All things considered, Kentucky’s bye week lands at the right time to get healthy and regroup.
