With gyms closing statewide due to the coronavirus outbreak and cabin fever skyrocketing as we all stay home to stop the spread, one tried and true exercise is experiencing a boom: running. It is still safe to go for a walk or run outside, as long as you keep your social distance; in fact, it’s one of the healthiest things you can do.

With that in mind, allow me to introduce KSRun, a running club on Strava, a fitness social network. Through the Strava app, you can track your activities, connect with friends, and give each other kudos on performances. For those of us who were training for a race that has been canceled or postponed, it’s a great way to stay motivated, but it’s also a useful tool for those who want to start running or simply get back into it.

Starting today, I’ll be posting helpful articles, tips, virtual group runs, and weekly challenges, along with discussions on the KSRun message board. Whether you’re running or walking, let us help you keep your fitness goals and/or sanity. It’s not about who goes the fastest or the furthest, it’s about getting out there and staying active.

The Strava app is free to download for iOS and Android. You can also keep up with your progress on the Strava website. If you have a fitness tracker (Apple Watch, FitBit, Garmin, etc.), you can sync it to the app to automatically track your workouts.
