Isaac Dixon helped lead Belfry (Ky.) High to a 2021 state championship in December. The tailback will now try to help Kentucky win football games in the SEC.

On Friday, the 5-foot-11, 195-pound tailback ended his recruitment with a verbal commitment to play for Mark Stoops at Kentucky. Running backs coach John Settle just received another player to use in his position room.

Last fall, Isaac Dixon rushed for 1,986 yards and 29 touchdowns while posting an absurd 10.1 yards per attempt. The two-way player also contributed on defense with 46 tackles and four interceptions. In the state playoffs, Dixon went nuts and helped lead a 4-6 Belfry team to a 3A state title.

In the championship against Paducah (Ky.) Tilghman, Dixon rumbled for 376 yards and five touchdowns.

“Isaac has all the earmarks of a great back — speed, agility, balance, power – but more importantly he has a great will,” Belfry coach Philip Haywood said of the tailback who returned for a fifth year of high school thanks to Senate Bill 128 which gave high school students the option to return to school after dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

In December, Dixon was named Mr. Football after that crazy playoff run saw the tailback go nuts on the competition. After receiving some small school interest, the Belfry senior has elected to continue his playing career at Kentucky.

In-state recruiting has helped lead the latest surge for Kentucky football, and the Wildcats have just picked up another significant win on the trail. Dixon will now be the fifth Mr. Football winner — Patrick Towles, Kash Daniel, Wan’Dale Robinson, Jager Burton — to play for Stoops at Kentucky.
