Ford updated his Top 100 rankings of prospects this morning, and while I already shared his thoughts on Jamal Murray, Skal Labissiere, and Tyler Ulis with you, here's what he had to say about Briscoe, whom he ranks #71:
Briscoe has declared for the 2016 NBA Draft. Briscoe came into the season as a potential first-round pick, but he got a little lost in scouts' minds behind the stellar play of both Jamal Murray and Tyler Ulis. His poor shooting and lack of time play the point guard spot didn't help. He does have a NBA body and next year he might get more minutes running the show for Kentucky -- but with De'Aaron Fox coming, he might be stuck in the same playing out of position next year too. However, if he stays in the draft, I think he's a likely second round pick.
"Likely" is better than nothing, but if Briscoe comes back and works on his shot and enhances his reputation as a defender/rim attacker, he could move back up into first round territory. What about Marcus Lee? Despite Lee's insistence on staying in the draft, Ford doesn't include him in the list of the 100 best prospects. [ESPN Insider]
