'It meant everything to me.' 2027 five-star guard Sydney Savoury details visit to Kentucky WBB

Right before Nike EYBL Session 3 began in Louisville, 2027 five-star guard Sydney Savoury made a pit stop in Lexington and took a look at what UK has to offer. Savoury’s recruitment has really taken off in the last year or so, and programs such as Michigan, UCLA, Louisville and Ole Miss are also in contention for her talents.

KSR caught up with the 2025 Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year, and she had very positive reviews about her visit to Kentucky, and specifically, Kenny Brooks and the staff.

“It was awesome just meeting with the staff,” Savoury noted. “I’ve obviously talked to them on the phone, so just being able to just talk with them in person, it meant everything to me — and they renovated everything. It was just cool to see the new stadium, the new court, the new practice facility, new weight room and all that type of stuff.”

Through various recruitments, it’s become very clear that UK’s investment in the sport of women’s basketball gives the Cats a leg up when it comes commitment time. Like she said, everything is new, modern, fresh — whatever you want to call it.

As far as what Brooks and Savoury discussed on her visit, it seemed to encompass the family-like culture that Kentucky has adopted. In a similar way he would always rave about Kaelyn Carroll, Brooks seems to think that Savoury could be as important of a piece in the locker room as she would be on the court.

Oh, and just how hard is Kentucky going to recruit Savoury? In her words, the staff is going “all in” on her.

“He basically said that they’re going to be all in on me, which I can appreciate,” Savoury mentioned. “He loves my game — but not just my game — me as a person, and he brings in great people, not just great basketball players. We can see that now in his culture and the way his players play for him and each other. It’s a winning culture, and I think great players love to thrive in those situations.”
