Texas has joined Kentucky in Jabaar Juluke sweepstakes
New Kentucky head coach Will Stein is attempting to build his first full coaching staff in Lexington. There has not been a ton of noise for the program on the assistant carousel but a new name emerged on Tuesday. The Wildcats are a contender for former Florida running backs coach Jabbar Juluke.
But another SEC school has entered the chat.
Former Kentucky running back and assistant Chad Scott was dismissed by Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian. Shortly after that news broke, the Horns became a contender for Jabaar Juluke. That could complicate things for Stein as he attempts to fill out his first staff.
Jabaar Juluke is a former long-time high school football coach in New Orleans who got his start in college coaching back in 2013. For three seasons, Juluke worked at Louisiana Tech with reported Kentucky offensive coordinator Joe Sloan. The running backs coach then spent time at LSU and Texas Tech before starting an eight-year working relationship with Billy Napier. The Louisiana native spent four seasons with Napier at Florida. The associate head coach played an integral in a recruiting operation in Gainesville that signed a pair of top-10 recruiting classes.

Stein still has a lot of work to do for Kentucky while he begins College Football Playoff prep with Oregon this week. The Cats now appear to be in an SEC bidding war with Texas for Jabaar Juluke.
