Kentucky OT target Jack Hines commits to Wake Forest

Offensive tackle is a big position of need for Kentucky football in the 2024 recruiting cycle. Unfortunately, a scheduled official visitor likely won’t make the trip to Lexington on Friday any longer.
Following his first official visit, Avon (Conn.) Old Farms offensive tackle Jack Hines committed to Wake Forest on Monday. Dave Clawson‘s program now has 17 high school commitments in the class of 2024.
Hines (6-7, 280) had multiple Power Five offers and scheduled to make an official visit to Kentucky this weekend after receiving an offer from the Wildcats on Jan. 20. That seems unlikely to happen at the moment as the offensive tackle board is beginning to thin out.

Premium target Jac’Qawn McRoy is scheduled to be in Lexington this Friday and has an announcement scheduled for June 30. Arkansas is surging in that recruitment after McRoy’s official visit to Fayetteville. UK has some ground to make up. Jonathan Daniels just wrapped up an official visit to UK but is scheduled to visit Georgia and Florida State to wrap up the month. Three-star tackle Jordan Floyd canceled his official visit to UK and has yet to reschedule while taking trips to UCF and Georgia Tech.
Kentucky enters the 2023 with six scholarship tackles on the roster. Adding two true tackle prospects from the high school ranks felt like a big need for the program entering this recruiting cycle. There is some work to do after Hines decided to end his recruitment on Monday.
