A huge transfer portal window is right around the corner, but high school recruiting never stops in college football. New Kentucky head coach Will Stein made it know that high school targets and in-state recruiting will be a huge point of emphasis in his introductory press conference. Some ground must be made up in the 2027 class.

There are eight in-state 2027 recruits ranked in the top 500 of the Rivals Industry Ranking. A couple others are legitimate power conference targets. One of them just trimmed his list down to 10 schools. Ja’Hyde Brown could become a major, major need for Kentucky this upcoming cycle.

The Louisville (Ky.) Christian Academy wideout is down to Kentucky, Alabama, Auburn, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Vanderbilt, and Wisconsin. Expect UK to make a big push for this four-star prospect who has received some serious interest from the Crimson Tide early in the recruiting process.

Ja’Hyde Brown just finished his junior season with a state championship after the Centurions finished 15-0 in 2026. The wideout recorded 98 receptions for 1,566 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior. Brown is expected to remain a big-time prospect in the 2027 class.

Expect Kentucky to make a serious push for the talented wide receiver and many others in a deep in-state crop as Stein and his staff begin to work on their first full high school recruiting class.
