Jaland Lowe will be 'non-contact' participant in practice ahead of Georgetown exhibition

Mark Pope shared the latest on Jaland Lowe‘s injury ahead of Thursday’s preseason finale against Georgetown.
During his Wednesday press conference, Pope provided more news on Lowe’s non-shooting shoulder, which he injured earlier this month during Kentucky’s Blue-White Game scrimmage, although it does not sound like he’ll suit up and play against the Hoyas.
“J-Lowe is gonna be in a little bit of practice today,” Pope said. “A little bit of non-contact practice. We’re being really careful so he can be fully healthy when we start the season.“
Following the press conference, Lowe was spotted at practice wearing a brace on his right shoulder as he went through shooting drills.

A preseason All-SEC Third Team member, Lowe sat out last Friday’s exhibition win over top-ranked Purdue, but the Wildcats didn’t skip a beat without PG1. Kentucky ran the Boilermakers out of Rupp Arena, 78-65, with Denzel Aberdeen, Jasper Johnson, and others seeing minutes as the lead guard. A few days before that game, Pope said Lowe was “doing good” health-wise and would return to live contact soon.
“Doing good. (Lowe’s) recovery has been epically fast. He’s feeling really good,” Pope said last week. “He was back shooting yesterday, full speed. We’ll probably keep him out of live contact for at least another week, just to make sure. He’s a massively important part of this season so we want to make sure he’s healthy.”
After Thursday’s final exhibition (7:00 p.m. ET | SEC Network+), Kentucky will prepare for next week’s season-opener on Tuesday against Nicholls. Lowe continues to trend in the right direction with six days until the official start of the 2025-26 campaign.
