Jaland Lowe is reportedly good to go tonight vs. Gonzaga

Jaland Lowe is expected to suit up and play for Kentucky tonight against No. 11 Gonzaga.

The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman broke the news a little over two hours ahead of tipoff against the Bulldogs. Lowe has appeared in just two of Kentucky’s eight games so far this season after suffering multiple injuries to his non-shooting shoulder. He has not played since the Wildcats’ 96-88 road loss to Louisville on Nov. 11 — over three full weeks ago.

KSR’s Jack Pilgrim has since been able to confirm that Lowe will take the floor against the Zags.

In the two games Lowe did play for UK, the 6-foot-1 point guard averaged 7.5 points and five assists in 23.5 minutes per outing. He will be a welcome addition to Kentucky’s backcourt, especially against a talented Gonzaga squad. Tipoff tonight in Nashville is set for 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Kentucky head coach Mark Pope was unsure of Lowe’s status during his press conference with local media on Thursday, but did indicate there was a chance the Pitt transfer could suit up and play.

“He’s been a little bit on the practice floor, he’s gonna try and practice a little bit today,” Pope said. “He did some live stuff yesterday, so he’s kind of working his way back in and we’ll see how that goes. Today we’re gonna let him kind of — you guys can all come and take a shot at it if you want, just roll in. We’re gonna see what happens. I don’t know (about Gonzaga), we’ll see. Don’t know, I’m not sure.”

With Kentucky already 0-3 this season against ranked opponents, the timing of Lowe’s return couldn’t be more ideal for the ‘Cats. The worry will be him dislocating the same non-shooting shoulder for a third time in just the last couple of months, but his ability to run the offense is invaluable right now for this group.
