The one thing that could not happen in Kentucky’s Blue-White Game did happen: Jaland Lowe went down with a right shoulder injury, making his way back to the locker room with Big Blue Nation left speechless inside Historic Memorial Coliseum.

Lowe told the training staff it “popped out” on the floor, writhing in pain before they quickly popped his shoulder back in place. He got up and walked off under his own power, but could not move his arm as he left the court. Mark Pope did not immediately provide an update on the SEC Network+ broadcast, but shared the latest at the start of his postgame press conference.

“He tweaked his shoulder, so we’ll see,” Pope said, adding that Lowe would undergo testing tomorrow to determine the severity. “We sat him down out of precaution. … We’ll see how it responds tomorrow. He’s an incredibly tough young man, so I’m sure whatever it is, he’ll battle it well.”

He finished the game with a team-high nine points on 3-6 shooting and 1-2 from three while adding two rebounds and one assist in 12 minutes of game action.

Lowe was named to the Preseason All-SEC Third Team, joining Otega Oweh among Wildcats earning honors, the latter named SEC Preseason Player of the Year and a All-SEC First Team selection. The junior guard transferred to Kentucky from Pittsburgh this offseason where he was named to Third Team All-ACC in 2024-25 after averaging 16.8 points, 5.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds per contest.

Kentucky will take on No. 1 Purdue to open exhibition play on Friday, October 24 inside Rupp Arena with tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m. ET, live on SEC Network.

Will Lowe be available for that one? His status is now seriously in question.
