James Paxton earns first win in The Show

by:Derek Johnson09/09/13
I posted on the site last week about former Cat James Paxton making his MLB debut on Saturday with the Seattle Mariners, and the southpaw didn't disappoint. Paxton earned the win in a 6-2 ballgame over the Tampa Bay Rays, giving up just four hits and one earned run to go along with three strikeouts in six innings of work. Joining Andrew Albers (Twins), Scott Downs (Braves), Chris Rusin (Cubs), Joe Blanton (Angels) and Collin Cowgill (Angels), Paxton is the sixth former Cat to play in the big leagues this season. In a post-game interview with MLB.com's Greg Johns, Paxton had this to say of his performance:
"Early on I was a little amped up, but I felt I got in a groove and was able to narrow my focus. It was just another baseball game, just a nicer stadium."
Go former Cats.   @DJohnson_KSR
