Well, officially joining the Knicks' active roster after previously being rumored as a G League addition back on Dec. 7, that is. The Knicks announced this week they have officially signed former Kentucky guard James Young to the active roster, becoming the sixth former Wildcat on the team, seventh if you include Kenny Payne as an assistant coach. https://twitter.com/NY_KnicksPR/status/1338649768877301760?s=20 Young joins Julius Randle, Nerlens Noel, Kevin Knox, Immanuel Quickley, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Payne with the franchise. Skal Labissiere was also recently signed by the Knicks, but was waived just one day later, clearing way for the former Wildcat forward to join the team's G League affiliate. The Rochester Hills, MI native heads to the Knicks after a brief stint with Maccabi Haifa of the Israel Basketball Super League last season, averaging 20.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in 19 outings. He was originally selected by the Boston Celtics with the 17th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, spending three years with the franchise before signing a two-way deal with the Philadelphia 76ers for the 2017-18 season. In his lone season at Kentucky, the 6-foot-6 guard averaged 14.3 points and 4.3 rebounds over 40 games, helping lead the Wildcats to a national runner-up finish in 2014. Averaging just 2.3 points and 1.0 rebound over 8.5 minutes in 95 career games, can Kenny Payne and the Knicks help Young get his NBA career back on the right track?
