Jamin Davis is battling legal issues ahead of his third season in the NFL for an eye-opening moving violation.

The former Kentucky linebacker was found guilty of traveling 114 mph in a 45 mph at 1 p.m. ET back in March 2022. According to the Washington Post, he was fined, his license was suspended and he was sentenced to 30 days in jail.

Davis was in Louden County Circuit Court in Virginia on Monday to appeal the sentence. He entered a plea deal to remain in active incarceration for a maximum of eight days, but the judge rejected that appeal. Judge Stephen E. Sincavage denied the deal because Davis was speeding in a heavily trafficked area in the middle of the day. He also has a brief history of moving violations since he entered the league.

In December of 2021, Jamin Davis was charged with reckless driving for being clocked at 89 mph in a 65 mph zone. It was eventually reduced to $150 fine. Unfortunately, that incident did not serve as a deterrent.

Four days later Davis was driving his McLaren in front of Commanders’ safety Deshazor Everett when Everett lost control of his 2010 Nissan GT-R. The car veered off the road and rolled. His 29-year-old girlfriend, Olivia Peters, died at the scene. Everett was clocked at 90 mph in a 45 mph zone. Initially, Everett charged with involuntary manslaughter, charges were reduced to reckless driving and he was sentenced to three months of home incarceration.

Jamin Davis was the Washington Commanders’ leading tackler in 2022. The former first round pick had 104 tackles, 9.0 for loss, 3.0 sacks and a pair of fumble recoveries. With 23 starts already on his resume, expectations are high for Davis under a new regime in Washington.

“He’s going through the legal process, and … we just got to be here and be supportive of him and understand that this is the legal process that he has to go through,” Commanders Coach Ron Rivera told reporters following training camp practice Monday.
