The LSU Tigers have cleared star freshman guard Javonte Smart to play in today's SEC Tournament opener against Florida.
Smart was initially suspended after wiretaps surfaced of Will Wade discussing a "strong-ass offer" for a recruit believed to be Smart. Over the last week Smart, his mother and a pair of handlers were interviewed by LSU administrators with NCAA officials present. After fully cooperating, unlike his head coach, Smart has been cleared to play.

Smart's suspension only sidelined him for the season finale vs. Vanderbilt. The freshman has made 37.5 percent of his three-point attempts to score 11.5 points per game for the Tigers. His 29-point performance helped lift LSU to an overtime win over Tennessee that all but clinched the regular season SEC Championship.
Tip-off between Florida and LSU is set for 1:00 ET at Bridgestone Arena.
