Nick Mingione and the Kentucky baseball program continue to mine the transfer portal for talent as the Bat Cats are looking to reload and make another run at a College World Series. The program received another big commitment on Monday.

St. Bonaventure outfielder Jayce Tharnish has committed to the Cats.

The Pennsylvania native entered the transfer portal on June 25 after slashing .403/.461/.597 for the Bonnies as a junior with 11 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, and 29 RBI. Jayce Tharnish also recorded 32 stolen bases playing in the Atlantic 10. The outfielder earned second-team all-conference honors.

“This past month has been a roller coaster filled with long talks and big decisions,” Tharnish wrote on Instagram. “It has not been easy but I have faith in this process and am certain I have found my new home. With that being said, I’m proud to announce that I will be continuing my career at The University of Kentucky. Excited to get to work!”

Jayce Tharnish becomes the second transfer outfielder to join Kentucky’s program this offseason. Tharnish was St. Bonaventure’s starting centerfielder last season and could fill that role for the Cats at Kentucky Proud Park this upcoming spring.

The big offseason rolls on for the Kentucky baseball program. Jayce Tharnish is yet another major transfer portal addition for the Cats as Mingione’s staff attempts to build a true SEC and national championship contender this offseason.
