There was a point early in the offseason when it looked like Kentucky would not have a strong participation turnout in the Senior Bowl. That is quickly changing. Another Wildcat will be making the trip to Mobile in the last week of January.

Starting right tackle Jeremy Flax received an invite to the draft showcase event on Thursday.

The former junior college transfer will be joining Kentucky linebacker Trevin Wallace, Kentucky tailback Ray Davis, and Kentucky cornerback Andru Phillips at the top pre-draft all-star event. The Senior Bowl will begin the week of Jan. 29 at the University of South Alabama and will conclude with a game on Feb. 3.

Jeremy Flax signed with Kentucky during the 2020 recruiting cycle and took a redshirt his first season on campus. The Detroit native was a rotational tackle in 2021 under offensive line coach Eric Wolford before earning a starting role under Zach Yenser in 2022 and 2023. After a very difficult season in 2022 where Flax gave up 22 pressures and seven sacks, there was a belief that Kentucky would make a change at right tackle.

That change never occurred.

Flax beat out USC transfer Courtland Ford for the RT1 job in fall camp and responded with his best season in college by a country mile. The tackle earned a 62.4 PFF grade (sorry, J.J. Watt) with his pass production taking a jump forward. Flax allowed on 12 pressures and two sacks in 2023 showing real growth in protection.

After a strong outing at the Hula Bowl, Flax has received some more interest from NFL personnel staffs. The tackle is looking to become the seventh Kentucky offensive line product selected in the last six drafts.

Tayvion Robinson receives Shrine Bowl invitation

Jeremy Flax was not the only product to turn a Hula Bowl appearance into a better opportunity. Kentucky super senior wide receiver Tayvion Robinson has not received an invitation to the Senior Bowl but will be headed to another popular pre-draft showcase.

On Tuesday, the former Virginia Tech transfer received an invite to the East-West Shrine Bowl.

Occurring the same week as the Senior Bowl, the East-West Shrine Bowl will host NFL Draft prospects at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas for another all-star showcase. Robinson will be looking to carve out a spot on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The former top-500 recruit spent two seasons in Lexington finishing his career at UK with 81 receptions for 1,049 yards and seven touchdowns. Robinson also served as Kentucky’s starting punt returning. That versatility will give the prospect value in the draft process.
