John Calipari is making Boogie Fland a top priority.

Fland, a five-star class of 2024 point guard, recently trimmed his list of finalists down to just a group of three: Kentucky, Alabama, and Indiana. The Harlem (NY) Archbishop Stepinac product is being heavily recruited by the Wildcats, especially over the last month. Fland took an official visit to UK in early September and then received two in-person visits from Calipari in less than a week shortly after.

Fast forward to Monday and Calipari is already going back to see Fland. According to Jacob Polacheck of KSR+, Calipari, along with Kentucky assistants Orlando Antigua and Chuck Martin, are visiting Fland once again. Alabama head coach Nate Oats is also in to see the 6-foot-3 floor general.

“(Kentucky is) a winning program under Coach Cal, you know? He came in and had an immediate impact on the entire university and on the fan base, everything,” Fland told KSR this summer. “They’ve got the No. 1 recruiting class coming in, so it’s good.”

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Fland is considered the No. 20 overall high school senior and top-ranked point guard in the country.

Kentucky appears to be going all-in on Fland as the first backcourt piece for their 2024 recruiting class. On3 national recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw wrote over the weekend that “the school I am hearing the most with regard to Fland’s recruitment right now is Kentucky,”. Alabama is still making an intriguing pitch and is closer to some of his family members located in Georgia, but the Wildcats are in good shape heading down the home stretch.

“Boogie Fland, I was told his (official) visit went absolutely great,” 247Sports insider Travis Branham told KSR on the Sources Say Podcast in September. “I do believe Kentucky is the leader in that recruitment, going head-to-head with Indiana. … If they want him, I think they will probably get him.”

Fland took his official visit to the Crimson Tide the weekend of Sept. 22-24. He was originally scheduled to take an OV to Maryland over the weekend but ultimately canceled that trip. His official visit to Indiana took place in June.

Playing for the PSA Cardinals on the Nike EYBL circuit over the summer, Fland shined in the pre-Peach Jam sessions. He averaged 15.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.7 steals per game on shooting splits of 43.5/33.3/77.5. Even though his numbers dipped slightly at Peach Jam, he was still able to help lead PSA to a 4-2 record in the event.

Although no commitment date has been set, the expectation is that Fland will make his decision ahead of the early signing period, which begins Nov. 8. A commitment could even come within the next few weeks. Kentucky currently has just one commit locked in for 2024, four-star center Somto Cyril. Will Fland be the next domino to fall?
