Praise from around the country continues to pour in for Josh Allen.  A day after he received his third SEC Defensive Player of the Week award, Pro Football Focus ranked Allen as the N0. 1 edge defender in America. Instead of using raw stats, PFF uses a formula based on game film grades.  Through five weeks Allen is the only edge defender in America ranked over 90 percent.  He's currently at 90.5 percent, ahead of Oregon's Justin Hollins, Michigan State's Kelly Wilkes and two other guys UK has already played, Florida's Jachai Polite and Central Michigan's Mike Danna.

With Ohio State’s Nick Bosa going down due to injury, Allen takes over as the top-graded edge defender as his elite play has helped to lead Kentucky to their undefeated start. Allen has the top pass-rush productivity in the nation at 21.6, notching six sacks, seven QB hits and 16 hurries on only 111 rushes. His win percentage of 30.6% is also best among the nation’s edge defenders and he’s been strong against the run with an 82.8 grade.

Allen has already accumulated six sacks, the third-best mark in America and most in the SEC.  With six more sacks this season, Allen will own every UK sack record.  He also leads the nation in tackles for loss with 10.5.  Allen has 33 total tackles and 2 forced fumbles; both marks rank near the top of the SEC.
