2028 SG Kam Mercer Sets Kentucky Visit

It’s early for 2028 guard Kam Mercer, but he’s already getting some visits set. His next visit will be to Kentucky.
The 6-foot-5, 190-pound guard from Overtime Elite (Cincinnati, OH) will take an unofficial visit to Kentucky on Saturday, Sept. 6, sources tell KSR+. The UK staff have been in contact with Mercer through his agency, EZ Sports Group.
“[Cody Fueger] said he’s interested and would love to get me on campus as soon as possible. I’ll talk to him again to get that set up, but I know that’s an option,” Mercer told KSR+ in August. “I can 100 percent go take an unofficial if I want to go take an unofficial. He was telling me about the history of Kentucky in general and how good Mark Pope is as a coach. That’s a summary of the whole call.”
His Wider Recruitment
College coaches can’t reach out directly to Kam Mercer, but he’s already getting plenty of interest. Mercer already holds offers from the likes of Cincinnati, Xavier, Ohio State, Missouri, Georgia State, NC State, Maryland, UCF, and Louisville.
Kentucky, Duke, Michigan, Tennessee, Georgia, and Indiana have gotten in contact through his agency. He’s already visited Cincinnati unofficially multiple times and is planning to visit Missouri on Oct. 11.

“Style of play is a big thing for me. I don’t really care if it’s close or far away from home. I’m not opposed to going far away,” Mercer said. “My goal is to be a one-and-done, which means I’d only be in college for seven or eight months. I could honestly care less if it’s in California or Florida, if it’s super far from me. Play style and relationships, honestly. I want the coaching staff to take time out of their day to talk to me, pick their brain, and see where my head is at. Those are the coaches I want to play for.”
Kam Mercer’s Game
2028 shooting guard Kam Mercer of Overtime Elite (GA) is not currently ranked by the Rivals Industry Ranking. ESPN ranks Mercer as the No. 5 overall prospect in the 2028 class.
“My IQ is [my greatest strength] as far as decision-making, controlling the game, controlling the pace, and making sure everything is moving slowly for my teammates,” Mercer said. “A lot of players can get sped up really quickly. I can get them to calm down and tell them that they’re good.”
