A pair of the country’s most popular Blue Bloods have scheduled head-to-head matchups over the next two college basketball seasons.

On Monday, it was announced by North Carolina and Kansas that the historic programs have scheduled a home-and-home series between the two. The first meeting will take place at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas, on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, with the second coming at The Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on Friday, Nov. 14, 2025.

Kansas and North Carolina are two of the three winningest programs in all of college basketball. KU leads the way with 2,385, Kentucky is second with 2,377, and UNC is third with 2,347. The Jayhawks and Tar Heels have met 12 times throughout history (seven in the NCAA Tournament) with both sides winning six games a piece. That being said, Kansas has won the last four, most recently in the 2022 NCAA National Championship game.

“These will be two great games from programs whose rich histories are intertwined so much,” Kansas head coach Bill Self said in the Jayhawks’ press release. “It will be a special day in both Chapel Hill and Lawrence when we play and I am looking forward to it.”

“These two games should be exciting for players and coaches on both teams and a win for fans of college basketball,” North Carolina head coach Hubert Davis said in the Tar Heels’ press release. “It’s an opportunity for two great programs to play in each other’s home arenas, which are among the best and most historic in our game.”

Of those 12 prior matchups, the two programs have met a total of seven times in the NCAA Tournament, including twice in the national championship (1957 and 2022) and three times in the national semifinals (1991, 1993, and 2008). Previous meetings have featured some of the game’s all-time greatest players such as Michael Jordan (UNC) and Wilt Chamberlain (KU).
