The matchup with Georgia on Saturday is not what many of us expected it to be back in the summer. After some bad home losses to South Carolina and Vanderbilt, the Cats are just trying to survive at this point.

That could be tough on Saturday with No. 1 Georgia bringing their undefeated record with a top-10 offense and top-five defense into Kroger Field. However, the games must be played as the 2022 season comes to an end. That means recruiting work must be done.

This weekend, Kentucky will host a very important unofficial visitor as Phenix City (Ala.) Central wideout Karmello English will be in town.

The top-200 prospect committed to Auburn in July but eventually backed off that pledge on Sept. 14 as things started to get rocky for Bryan Harsin on the Plains. Since then, this recruitment has been opened up with Kentucky and Michigan emerging as the top two options.

English took an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor on Oct. 15 when the Wolverines hosted Penn State. Now he’ll make it up to Kentucky on Saturday.

Both Kentucky (June 10) and Michigan (June 24) had the blue-chip receiver on campus for an official visit over the summer. Now they are both looking to close on the six-foot receiver who posted 1,059 receiving yards with 18 receiving touchdowns as a junior.

Shamar Porter and Anthony Brown were two good recruiting wins for Kentucky at wide receiver this cycle. The Cats could be ready to add another as Woodward will look to close on English as signing day quickly approaches next month.
