Could the younger brother of Kevin Knox follow in his footsteps to Lexington? He’s got an official visit scheduled to Kentucky to help make that decision.

Karter Knox, the nation’s No. 13 overall prospect and No. 5 small forward, will make the trip the weekend of January 19-21 when the Wildcats take on Georgia at home on Jan. 20.

David Sisk of Cats Illustrated was the first to break the news.

Knox is down to four finalists, with Kentucky joining the likes of Louisville, South Florida and the G League. He’s visited all four already, including a previous official to Lexington in October 2022. He took a surprise official to Louisville back in December amid speculation regarding Kenny Payne’s future with the Cardinals.

What are his thoughts on the Cats?

“It’s a pretty good program, pretty good practices, style of play. They’re having a pretty good season so far,” Knox told KSR. “… Kentucky is definitely an option.”

As for the other programs left in contention, the Riverview, FL native likes what the USF staff is selling him.

“I took a visit to USF, it’s a really good program. Coach Amir (Abdur-Rahim) is a great head coach, they’re building up something over there,” he said.

How about the Cards? It’s an opportunity to be the face of a turnaround.

“If I do go there, I can potentially change the program, turn the program around,” Knox said. “It’s going pretty rough. …They’ve basically said I can be helpful to the program and take it to another level.”

And the five-star wing wants to be a pro, so the pro option certainly intrigues him with the G League.

“That’s always a great option,” Knox told KSR. “You’re going up against other pros. Ron Holland, Matas Buzelis, they’re all doing their thing over there, top-10 picks.”

In terms of a decision, Knox says it’s “getting ready to be that time,” but admits “it’s getting pretty tough” working through his options.

“I don’t know when,” he said. “Time will tell.”

What will he prioritize when the time does come to choose a program?

“It’s my relationship with the coaches, definitely need to have a good relationship with the coaches. You want to go to a college where you know the coaches, know the players,” Knox said. “And you want to go somewhere with a good fanbase, somewhere the crowd gets rocking. You don’t want to play in an open gym, so it’s always good to have those things.”

Will that school be Kentucky? The Cats will get his next visit.
