Former Kentucky Basketball players Keion Brooks and Kellan Grady have two days to shine at the NBA’s G League Elite Camp in Chicago, a secondary scouting event to the NBA Combine. Brooks and Grady were among 44 invitees to the second-tier combine that began today, each with hopes of improving their stock and receiving feedback for their professional careers—or even better, earning an invite to the NBA Combine.

As luck would have it, Brooks and Grady drew the same team assignment for Monday’s 5-on-5 scrimmages, both suiting up for Team 2 in the four-team pool. Unfortunately, their first auditions did not go as well as they had hoped as they underperformed in their Monday game.

Brooks went 1-for-6 from the field for four points, but grabbed seven rebounds. Grady scored only five points and missed three of his four 3-point tries. Their team lost by 16 points.

Obviously, Brooks and Grady will have to play much better in tomorrow’s scrimmage if they want to be selected as G League campers invited to stay in Chicago for the NBA Combine. You can watch on the G League’s YouTube page.

Keion Brooks is “all-in” on NBA Draft

Of the two Wildcats at G League Elite Camp, Keion Brooks is the one who still has the option to return to school; although, that school will not be Kentucky. Incoming transfer Antonio Reeves already has Brooks’ No. 12 jersey at Kentuycky and a recent report named four schools as potential landing spots upon Brooks’ return to the collegiate ranks, should he go back. Keion Brooks Sr. called the report fake news.

On Monday, Brooks Jr. took questions about his future and he was very clear about his current mindset. “I’m all-in on the draft,” he told Adam Zagoria. “My agent and my parents just thought that getting in the transfer portal was something that was good to keep my options open. We didn’t want to close the door on anything, you never know what could happen.”

Brooks added that he doesn’t even know which schools have reached out because he is completely removed from his portal recruitment. “I just let my parents handle it all,” he said.
