Kenny Brooks' 2026 recruiting class is arguably the best in the country

Kenny Brooks is putting his recruiting skills to work.

Entering year two as the head coach of Kentucky women’s basketball, Brooks has put a clear emphasis on bringing in top high school talent. It didn’t take him long to receive a commitment from five-star 2025 wing Kaelyn Carroll, who is gearing up for her freshman season with the Wildcats, in his first season in charge.

But Brooks is off to an even better start with the 2026 class.

In Rivals’ latest player rankings update released on Wednesday, both of Kentucky’s 2026 high school commits are now considered to be among the 11 best rising seniors in the entire country. 6-foot-1 combo guard Savvy Swords checks in at No. 10 overall, immediately followed by 5-foot-8 point guard Maddyn Greenway at No. 11. Both are rated as five-star talents.

Which begs the question: Does the pairing of Swords and Greenway make for the best high school class in the country as of right now? It’s tough to argue against it.

Only 33 of the top 100 players in this new update are currently committed to a school, according to Rivals recruiting reporter Talia Goodman. Granted, it’s still early in the process, and only a handful of programs have multiple commits, but none have a two-person crew rated higher than Swords and Greenway. Duke (where former UK head coach Kyra Elzy is now an assistant) is the closest contender, but the Blue Devils’ two commits rank 29th and 30th in the class.

Brooks might not be done yet, either. He has several other 2026 offers out there to some of the most talented players in the country, including a few in the top 10. The top two prospects in the class, Saniya Hall (Southern California) and Kate Harpring (North Carolina), respectively, have already committed, but 15 of the top 20 remain undecided.

There aren’t any official team rankings lists yet, but if there were, it’d be tough not to put Kentucky at the very top as of mid-August.
