The wheels keep turning for Kenny Brooks and Kentucky women’s basketball.

Even as the program’s new head coach tries to figure out what to do with next year’s roster, he is already trying to build up for the future as well. On Monday, we learned that Brooks offered Sacred Heart Academy’s five-star guard ZaKiyah Johnson. A few days later, there’s been an additional 2025 offer made.

Enter Adelaide Jernigan, who is ranked as the 45th prospect in the nation and a four-star recruit, per ESPN. While Brooks was still the head coach at Virginia Tech, he offered Jernigan back in early October. She visited Blacksburg a couple of weeks later and even put the Hokies in her top-10 schools back in November.

Jernigan announced an offer from UK and Coach Brooks on Thursday.

Brooks has been hitting the ground running when it comes to going after high-profile recruits at Kentucky, even in a short amount of time. Even though he hasn’t landed any recruits yet, he is making the ‘Cats competitive in recruiting, and we haven’t seen that in a long time.

Now, Brooks has a chance to bring in one of the top juniors in the country.

Along with Kentucky, the likes of Iowa, Louisville, and Tennessee are just some of the schools going after Jernigan. She comes out of Bishop McGuinness in North Carolina, making her the top player in the Tar Heel State for the 2025 class.

The 5-foot-11 guard can score from just about anywhere on the floor, using her abilities to create open shots. Additionally, she plays a brand of defense that allows her to hold her own on the perimeter. It allows her to be physical going up against bigger guards and wings. Just an overall good talent who could contribute right away at a power program.

By offering Jernigan here at Kentucky, it’s clear that Brooks is trying to create a strong foundation for his future in Lexington. Maybe, Adelaide Jernigan can be a part of that future.
