Kenny Brooks' second Big Blue Madness intro was a good one -- because of course it was

Did you expect anything else? Kenny Brooks stole the show in his first Big Blue Madness this time a year ago, making the long walk from the Rupp Arena locker room out to the floor like Kentucky‘s version of Morgan Wallen. Mark Pope and the Wildcat mascot were among the special guests in his intro with Hanumankind’s Big Dawgs leading him out on the speakers.
How did he follow up that iconic performance? By hitting the 1s and 2s alongside UK legend Makayla Epps.
It was short and sweet, Brooks spinning at the DJ table to continue his theme of breaking records.
“Every record has a sound, a story. And last year, the track was rewritten,” Makayla Epps said, narrating the intro. “In just his first year at Kentucky, head coach Kenny Brooks became Sporting News National Coach of the Year. He led the Wildcats to a top-10 national ranking and tied the fastest mark in program history to reach 20 wins. 11 SEC opponents beaten by eight or more and an 11-1 nonconference record, five AP top 25 wins and 12 school records shattered. … Around here, breaking records isn’t the finish line, it’s the standard.”
“And we’re not done yet,” Brooks said.
The intro was excellent, but it was what he said afterward that hit even harder. Taking the mic on stage, Brooks talked about the program having a target on its back now after accomplishing what the Wildcats did in year one of the new era.

His response to the pressure? It’s okay to dream big with this program with him leading the charge.
“I promise you this, this year’s gonna be better,” he said. “… We will not stop until we become national champions.”
That’s what we love to hear, Coach. Expectations are high, but he wants to go even higher in year two at Kentucky.
