Kentucky’s Aidan Laros is among the eight finalists for the premier Punter of the Week award.

On Monday, Laros was named one of the Ray Guy Award’s “Ray’s 8” for his performance on Saturday against Eastern Michigan. The senior out of Cape Town, South Africa, punted the ball three times for Kentucky, averaging 50.7 yards per kick (152 total yards). Two of those punts went for over 50 yards, while two landed inside the 20-yard line.

Laros, who was added to the Ray Guy Award Watch List after Kentucky’s season-opening win over Toledo, is now averaging 44.7 yards per punt in 2025, seventh-best in the SEC and top 50 across the country. With 14 punts already this season, he’s been an important special teams weapon for the Wildcats through the first three weeks.

It’s no surprise to see Laros making headlines as a punter. He was Kentucky’s sole representative on the Preseason All-SEC Teams, sharing Third Team honors with Arkansas’ Devin Bale. Laros was the team’s starting punter for most of the 2024 season, averaging 45.4 yards per punt with 11 landing inside the 20-yard line. He posted multiple 60-yard punts against SEC opponents, too. Remember, Laros was an FCS All-American and Punter of the Year at UT Martin in 2023 before transferring to play in Lexington. He’s been a savant of his craft.

But Laros needs some help from the Big Blue Nation if he wants to add another accolade to his already long list of honors. You can vote for him as the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week by clicking the link here. He’s battling the other “Ray’s 8” finalists for this week’s recognition: Angus Davies (Tulsa), Brett Thorson (Georgia), Dylan Joyce (Miami), Jack Bouwmeester (Texas), Jack McCallister (Purdue), Keelan Crimmins (Illinois), and Luke Freer (Air Force).

Kentucky only has one Ray Guy Award winner in program history, which went to Max Duffy in 2019. Laros already won the FCS version of this award — let’s see if he can get the FBS edition next.
