Kentucky Baseball Lands Lefty from South Carolina

What’s a pitching rotation without a quality southpaw? Nick Mingione searched through the transfer portal and found a lefty to add to the Kentucky pitching staff.
Jackson Soucie tells Derek Terry of Bat Cats Central that he’s committing to Kentucky. The former JUCO product spent the 2025 season playing for South Carolina.
Soucie entered the transfer portal eight days ago. The Canadian considered making the move to Georgia and Florida, but ultimately could not pass up the opportunity to join Nick Mingione’s program.
“The connection I built with the coaching staff when I was talking to them on the phone, there was honestly nothing that I could compare,” Souice told Bat Cats Central.

“In my whole recruiting process talking to the coaches, I never really felt a connection like that the way I did with Kentucky’s coaches. I got the opportunity to talk to all three of them – pitching coach (Dan Roszel), recruiting coordinator (Austin Cousino) and head coach (Nick Mingione). Just being able to hear their interest in me and me being able to share my interest in them, we started slowly growing a connection. Overall, it just felt like it was the right place to call home for next year.”
Soucie is a big presence on the mound at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds. In 14 appearances this spring, Soucie made five starts and went 3-1 with 32 strikeouts in 30 innings. He allowed 28 hits and had an ERA of 5.40. He becomes the eleventh transfer portal commitment this offseason for the Kentucky baseball program, in a class that ranks among the top five in the country.
