LIVE BLOG: Kentucky Basketball Blue-White Game

We’ve gotten glimpses of the Kentucky Basketball team at Pro Day and Big Blue Madness. Tonight, we get our best look yet in the annual Blue-White Game at Historic Memorial Coliseum (7 p.m. ET, SEC Network+).
The women’s team will tip things off at 7 p.m. with an intrasquad scrimmage, followed by the men. Former Kentucky greats Makayala Epps and Travis Ford will be on the call alongside Noah Frary on the SEC Network+. As a reminder, if you have the SEC Network included with your cable subscription, you should also receive SEC Network+, which can be accessed by logging into the ESPN app using your cable provider user ID and password. If you can’t get SEC Network+, the KSR crew has you covered.

Pope on Lowe’s shoulder
10/17/2025 08:33:56 PMMark Pope was asked immediately about Jaland Lowe’s shoulder at the postgame press conference.
“Yeah, he just tweaked his shoulder, so we’ll see. Kind of sat him down out of precaution. We’ll know more tomorrow. We’ll probably get some imaging tomorrow and kind of see how it responds tomorrow. He’s an incredibly tough young man, so I’m sure whatever it is, he’ll battle through it well.”

Official Stats
10/17/2025 08:22:07 PMHere are your official stats for the night. Jasper Johnson led all scorers with 10 points, followed by Jaland Lowe with 9. Malachi Moreno was the leading rebounder with 9 boards. Shoutout to Brandon Garrison for getting three steals and a block.

Mark Pope’s postgame comments on SEC Network+
10/17/2025 08:15:09 PMMark Pope was not asked about Jaland Lowe’s shoulder on the SEC Network+ broadcast after the game (he probably didn’t know anything at the time), but he did spend a few minutes talking about his squad. Pope said that his team was a little nervous early on, but quickly settled in.
“We had a little bit of nerves catching the ball early, and our guys did a nice job there. I felt like we did a nice job not getting too sped up, where we didn’t recognize things we were doing. I was really proud of that. We didn’t shoot the ball great for a little bit on the White Team, but I felt like the guys earned pretty good shots. I thought we were really relentless on the offensive glass, which is a huge key for us. We had some defensive breakdown, but like the group tonight a lot.”
When asked about the returners, Brandon Garrison earned immediate praise from Pope.
“It’s been really fun to have those guys back. Not only can they translate what this experience is and what it means and why it’s so unique, but also, they’ve grown immensely. You’re talking about a guy like Brandon Garrison, he might have just been trying to take things in last year. His voice is so good now, and he’s making really good decisions, and in some other spaces, he’s so close to making really good decisions on the court. He knows our concepts, and he talks our guys through it. And his conditioning has improved so much. He’s just a world different than he was a year ago. So you see that from those guys. It’s not just that they can communicate what this is. It’s just been fun to see how they’e grown and how they’ve improved.”
In one week, we’ll finally see this team play someone else; no one is more excited about that than Pope. Fingers crossed that Jaland Lowe’s shoulder injury is nothing major and he doesn’t have to miss out on the exhibition vs. No. 1 Purdue.
“Well, it’s gonna be a ride, man,” Pope said of this season. “I love this team that we have. I’ve got a bunch of guys who come compete and fight and battle. They do every single day, and this is going to be a great ride. I’m excited for BBN that they get to enjoy this season. And I know how this is here. Like, we’re going to live and die with every single moment and every single curve in the road, and we’re going to do it together. We’re going to celebrate together, and we’re going to beat each other up, and it just is the greatest thing ever. So buckle up, guys, and let’s go.”

An update on Jaland Lowe from Dr. Mike
10/17/2025 07:51:02 PMBad news, folks. KSR’s own Dr. Michael Huang was right in front of Lowe when he went down with the shoulder injury and heard him say, “It popped out.”
His official medical opinion? “Best case is 3-4 weeks, assuming it’s not a recurring injury. If it’s something that is a recurring injury and he needs surgery, Kentucky could have a problem. Or it could be like Lamont Butler last year where it’s something they deal with all year.”
We’ll have more from Mark Pope shortly.
MO DIOUBATE IN TAKEOVER MODE
10/17/2025 07:49:01 PMWith Blue down to their last point in the Elam Ending, Mo Dioubate has done his best to put the White team on his back by fighting for multiple tough rebounds and baskets at the rim.
Andrija Jelavic knocks down a couple of threes for Blue
10/17/2025 07:48:12 PMHe’s picking up right where he left off in the 3-point contest at Big Blue Madness, knocking down a couple of threes to help create some serious separation for the Blue team.
Jaland Lowe goes down with a right shoulder injury
10/17/2025 07:42:44 PMThe one thing that couldn’t happen did happen as Kentucky’s starting point guard went down grabbing his right shoulder, trainers coming out to pop it back in place for Jaland Lowe.
He got up and walked back to the locker room, but was clearly in real pain.
Please be okay.
And we’re off for MBB!

10/17/2025 06:36:02 PMJosie Gilvin, Kaelyn Carroll and Asia Boone sub in. That’s your top eight including the starters it seems.
Starting lineups for WBB…
10/17/2025 06:24:48 PMThe women are scrimmaging against the male practice players, so we’ll see a true starting five for Kenny Brooks’ squad.
He’s rolling with Tonie Morgan, Jordan Obi, Amelia Hassett, Teonni Key and Clara Strack as his first unit. Most likely the starting five we’ll see during the season.
Still going through warmups…
10/17/2025 06:23:19 PMThe women’s basketball team is currently going through warmups, which should wrap up within the next five minutes. Just a lot of shooting to get warmed up, nothing special at the moment. Stand by.
Come get your Blue and White teams!
10/17/2025 05:59:11 PMHow does Mark Pope plan on splitting up the intrasquad scrimmage? This is how things will start out before some mixing and matching as the game goes on.
