Joson Sanon is one of the most talented uncommitted prospects in the 2025 recruiting class. On Wednesday evening he trimmed his list to six and the Kentucky Wildcats made the cut.

In addition to John Calipari’s program, Sanon is also considering Arizona, Boston College, UConn, Kansas, and Overtime Elite.

If you stopped in your tracks because you saw Boston College in Sanon’s final list, your double-take is valid. The reasoning behind it is simple. He’s from nearby Fall River, MA. His hometown is actually closer to Providence and many Friar fans believed he would stay home and play for Kim English. They were cut from his list, along with Indiana, Georgia, and Louisville.

Last week the talented prospect stirred up a big stink during a trip to the Commonwealth. In the final days of the Kenny Payne era, Rick Bozich tabbed Sanon and Karter Knox as two potential program-saving additions. If Payne got another year, those top 25 talents may end up playing Louisville out of its hole. Well, about a week later Knox committed to Kentucky. That happened on the heels of Sanon’s eventful visit.

Joson Sanon, a 6-foot-6 wing ranked as the No. 11 player in the On3 Industry Rankings, began his trip by posing for a picture with Kenny Payne at Louisville. Before Cardinal fans could get in all of their jokes, they became the punchline as Sanon made the short trip down I-64 to unofficially visit for Kentucky’s senior night victory over Vanderbilt.

Payne could not get a job-saving commitment, but the high school shooting guard did get a sweet selfie with Scratch.

Sanon has only taken one official visit, a trip to Arizona. He’s also toured the campuses of UConn and Boston College. Indiana holds a slight edge in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

Joson Sanon Scouting Report

“Joson Sanon has a basketball player’s frame, with long arms and wide-set shoulders. His pace is excellent. He is never rushed with the ball. At 6-5, he has a pure jump shot with range beyond the arc. He is comfortable shooting off the bounce or the catch, keeping his mechanics consistent throughout. Sanon is a good athlete with explosion and burst. He has the upside to be a good defender, both on and off the ball. Sanon has a solid handle, comfortable getting to the midrange off one and two dribbles. Sanon is tracking among the top in his class.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
