Before he takes the stand at SEC Basketball Media Day in Birmingham, John Calipari announced Kentucky Basketball’s new partnership with The Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in memory of Kobe and Gianna Bryant.

Through this new partnership, Calipari and Kentucky Women’s Basketball head coach Kyra Elzy will host a free Mamba Skills Academy this upcoming weekend for underserved boys and girls interested in the game. Vanessa and Natalia Bryant helped organize the event, Calipari noted in his Tuesday morning tweets:

“Excited to announce that (Kyra Elzy) and I are partnering with The Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation to hold a FREE Mamba Skills Academy for underserved boys and girls this weekend. Thank you to Vanessa and Natalia Bryant for helping us organize this!

Using our platform to provide opportunity and access is who we want to be and it was what Kobe Bryant stood for. We’re honored to play a part in continuing his mission by supporting The Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation’s efforts to proved opportunities for EVERYONE!

We are working with local organizations to fill the spots in the clinic, but should any room remain, we will post a registration link for the remaining spots.”

KSR will help spread any updates as we learn them and the registration link when it comes available.
