Kentucky Commit Jordan Crutchfield Flips to Florida State

It has not been a November to remember for Big Blue Nation. It feels like the only news has been bad news over the last week. Unfortunately, there’s more bad news for Kentucky football fans.
Florida defensive back Jordan Crutchfield has flipped his commitment from Kentucky to Florida State. He made the decision days after taking an official visit Tallahassee.
“Going to Florida State has always been a thought,” Crutchfield told Rivals. “You know, with the way college is right now, you’re always trying to find the best fit for you.”
He added, “They have one of the greatest cultures in sports. It’s close to home too, so I’ll be able to see my family way more. Overall, it’s an amazing program with the players and history to match.”
A 6-foot-2.5 safety from Vero Beach, Florida, Crutchfield was a three-star prospect, ranked among the Top 500 players in America according to the Rivals Industry Rankings.

Crutchfield provided Kentucky a much-needed PR win when he committed to the Wildcats on June 11. Vince Marrow had just left for Louisville, and the Cards were cleaning up on the recruiting trail. Crutchfield took official visits in Louisville and Lexington before ultimately choosing Kentucky. It effectively stopped the bleeding and set the table for the Cats to go on a nice little run at the end of the peak summer cycle.
Following his flip to Florida State, Kentucky is down to just 13 commitments in its 2026 recruiting class. Crutchfield is the fourth UK pledge to flip in this cycle, joining OT Jarvis Strickland (Louisville), IOL Tyreek Jemison (TBD), and LB Max Mohring (Northwestern).
There are only two consensus four-star talents in the group, QB Matt Ponatoski and S Messiah Tilson. It’s one of Mark Stoops’ lowest-ranked classes, coming in at No. 15 in the SEC and No. 55 overall. We are less than two weeks away from the Early Signing Period, which takes place on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
