Kentucky Commit Will Play in $62 Million High School Football Stadium

The lights are brighter in the SEC. Many players who step onto the field this fall will experience something they’ve never felt before — the passion and rage from 70,000 college football fans. The Friday night lights are incomparable, but there is an exception for some, including a future Kentucky quarterback.
Buford High School in Georgia unveiled a new $62 million facility that looks better than some facilities you will see when tuning into college football games this fall.
Phillip Beard Stadium will seat 10,000 fans. It includes amenities typically only seen in the college ranks. There are 15 luxury suites, a 3,500 sq. ft. video board, and a connected two-story field house. It is truly a sight to behold.
The new stadium will get the national spotlight when Buford opens the season on ESPN. The Wolves are hosting another national powerhouse from Georgia, 2024 Class 5A Champion Milton, on Aug. 14. The game will have a Thursday night primetime kickoff at 7 PM.

You’ll know at least one player on the roster when Buford shows off its shiny new stadium. Three-star quarterback DJ Hunter became the first member of the Kentucky 2027 recruiting class when he committed to the Cats in April. Unfortunately, he will not be the star of the show this year for the Wolves.
Hunter suffered a knee injury that will force him to miss the entire 2025 high school football season. He’ll be on the sidelines while Dayton Raiola, the younger brother of Nebraska QB Dylan Raiola, slings it around the yard. Hopefully, the future Cat comes back from the injury ready to rip it in front of thousands of fans for the 2026 season.
