Kentucky football is dipping into the JUCO ranks for next season’s roster.

On Wednesday afternoon, defensive back Braxton Urquhart announced his commitment to the Wildcats on social media. Clocking in at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, the Hoover, AL, native will transfer over from Butler Community College (KS). He chose Kentucky over offers from the likes of Colorado State, Western Michigan, UT Martin, Western Illinois, Indiana State, and others. He took an official visit to Western Michigan back in October.

Urquhart is not currently ranked by Rivals, but the folks over at 247Sports consider him to be the 96th-best JUCO prospect (and 10th-best overall cornerback) in the 2026 recruiting class. He’ll come to Lexington as a redshirt junior with two years of eligibility remaining.

There isn’t much out there on Urquhart right now. What we know is that he graduated from Hoover High School as a member of the 2023 recruiting cycle. His social media profile shows that he took unofficial and camp visits to the likes of Auburn, Alabama, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State back in 2021 and 2022. However, he did not announce any offers from those schools. He received offers from schools such as UT Martin and Miles College.

But instead of going to a non-Power 4 program, Urquhart elected to take the JUCO route. That path eventually led him to the SEC. Kentucky is now up to 14 commits in the class of 2026, a group that ranks 57th in the country by Rivals.
