The Kentucky football season is rapidly approaching. Now only 58 days away from the season-opener against Miami, Oh., let’s take a closer look at a few significant 58 statistics from over the years.

Running back Calvin Bird scored four touchdowns vs Hawaii in 1958. The feat has been accomplished 13 times in Kentucky football history, most recently by Benny Snell (twice) and Lynn Bowden (against Louisville. However, Bird still has the upper-hand on his compadres. By converting a PAT, he stands alone with school record of 25 points in a single game.

Lucas Padgett will wear No. 58 for the Wildcats this fall. The walk-on offensive lineman played three years of high school football in Alabama prior to moving to Albuquerque for a COVID-19 shortened senior season. His parents are former stars in Lexington. His mother, Cynthia, played volleyball for Kentucky from 1994-97, while his father, Scott Padgett, won a National Championship with Tubby Smith back in 1998.

Andre Woodson threw for 358 yards in the 2007 Music City Bowl, a UK bowl record. He completed 32-of-50 passes for four touchdowns in the 35-28 victory over Florida State. It was the first time since 1951-52 the Wildcats stacked up bowl wins in back-to-back years.

Lones Seiber‘s 158 made PATs from 2006-09 are the most in UK history.

Lynn Bowden had a 58-yard punt return touchdown against Penn State in the Citrus Bowl. Only three Wildcats have more career punt return touchdowns than the two Bowden housed in 2018.

Jared Lorenzen set a school record in 2000 when he threw for 528 passing yards against Georgia. He completed 39-of-58 attempts for two touchdowns and a pair of interceptions in the Wildcats’ 34-30 loss to the 12th-ranked Bulldogs.

Derek Abney had 5856 all-purpose yards during his career from 2000-03, a school record. The receiver was a return specialist, tying a collegiate record with six kick return touchdowns in 2002.
