Your Monday morning edition of the Kentucky football countdown is presented by the number 68. Kenneth Horsey will be rocking the number on the Big Blue Wall this fall as the outspoken leader on the offensive line.

About Horsey

Kenneth Horsey was a three-star recruit when he signed with the University of Kentucky in 2018. Shortly before coming to campus, Horsey’s life got turned upside down. On Easter Sunday of his senior year he had a medical episode. Doctors quickly learned he needed open-heart surgery.

Thankfully, Horsey completely recovered. Even though he could not play right away, he arrived on campus for the 2018 season, where John Schlarman’s fortitude helped Horsey get over the hump and back on his feet. Within two years he replaced All-SEC guard Logan Stenberg. In 2020 he was one of three student-athletes named Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year. Last season he was selected to the Allstate Good Works Team. What was once a burden is now his calling, spreading heart health awareness in the Lexington community and teaching hands-only CPR to his teammates.

Kenneth Horsey Fun Fact

In addition to lettering for two years in varsity shot put, he has more than 14 years of martial arts experience. In case his imposing size wasn’t intimidating enough, he can karate chop you in half.

2022 Forecast

I’d be willing to wager a significant amount of money that Horsey will be elected a team captain this fall. Typically the vocal leaders of the offensive line are at center or offensive tackle. This year Horsey is the unofficial spokesperson for the Big Blue Wall. Entering his senior season with 21 starts, he’s the most experienced player protecting Will Levis.

The last time we saw him, an injury forced Horsey to kick out to offensive tackle for the Citrus Bowl, causing a few headaches for Kentucky’s quarterback. With 3-4 options at tackle, Horsey can remain comfortable at guard to pave the way for another Joe Moore Award-contending season by the UK offensive line.
