Kentucky Football Countdown: No. 77 Jeremy Flax

Today’s edition of the Kentucky football countdown takes us to the redshirt junior who is expected to start at right tackle this fall. Expectations are high for No. 77 Jeremy Flax.
About Jeremy Flax
Jeremy Flax was a significant recruiting win out of junior college in the class of 2020. Kentucky logged a recruiting for the Detroit native out of Independence (Kan.) Community College beating out Auburn on signing day. Flax was expected to compete for playing immediately.
After taking a redshirt year in 2020, Flax was set for a starting spot in 2021 until LSU transfer Dare Rosenthal arrived on campus. The second-year offensive tackle never really seemed to mesh with offensive line coach Eric Wolford and was unable to carve out a consistent role.
However, Flax is claiming to be a better fit with new offensive line coach Zach Yenser and left the spring as the starter at right tackle.

2022 Forecast
Kentucky enters the year with a solid nucleus at the interior of the offensive line, but there are a lot of moving parts. The Wildcats have made a change at play-caller, and Yenser will be the group’s third offensive line coach in three years. And now the Big Blue Wall must find two new answers at offensive tackle.
The offense in Lexington will be leaning heavily on Jeremy Flax to solidify the right side, create lanes in the wide zone scheme, and protect Will Levis in pass protection. If Flax can become a rock-solid piece at offensive tackle it will immediately help raise this team’s ceiling.
